Why do four day weeks seem SO long?

This week Movie Monday did not happen. I did not watch a movie. Instead I....
-went to eat with a friend
-finally had my Valentine's date
-enjoyed a trip to the museum with the fam
-sunbathed at the Botanical Gardens
-took a 3!!!! hour nap
-picked up paint samples for our livingroom
-enjoyed a restful Sunday praising an amazing God
-sewed Lilly a dress, my first article of clothing sewn for Lilly
-finished a quilt from December
-watched my daughter have the time of her life at McDonald's play area

It was a wonderfully full weekend of family, love and friends. Upon returning to work today I was reminded of a sad fact. 4 day weeks seem to take a lot longer than a regular 5 day week. I need a vacation from my vacation....I'm thinking...

Family Friday- Cade's Birthday

Cade Tyler is my one and only brother-in-law. He is a US Marine and because of that not home very often. I guess I should say not here because he and his sweet little family has moved and made home in North Carolina. While he was home for Christmas and on Predeployment leave he also celebrated his 21st birthday. Here are some pictures from his birthday celebration at Razzoos.

Cade and his sweet son Luke.

The entire family.

This one shows more of their normal....Luke going crazy!

That's more like it.

The cute couple

..........

Cade and his fish bowl...

Hubbs

believe it or not....he was not intoxicated.

Lilly accidentally ate a jalapeno hush puppy...not fun!

The proud mamma

again hubbs

Lilly back happy

Below chronicles Cade's birthday surprise. He had to find the cherry in a bowl of whip cream with only h is mouth while the whole restaurant sings Happy Birthday

In the end there was no cheery after all....hahahaha.

This is the first of a two part tribute of family Friday to dear old Cade-y as I call him.

Three Things Thursday

Three Things Thursday
1. Tomorrow night the hubs and I are finally getting to celebrate Valentine's Day. Mostly it is a surprise but I do know the church is having Paren'ts Appreciation Night and that is where Lilly will be. The picture above reminds me a little of what one of our dinner's on our Honeymoon. Jamacia was so wonderful, I hope tomorrow's dinner is just as fun!

2. Saturday we are going to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and then a picnic lunch at the Botanical Gardens, pictured above. I have big plans for a photo shoot of Lilly and her mommy and daddy. Let's just say we have matching shoes!!!!!

3. This is my 100th post! I never thought I would get and at the same time it deosn't feel like there have been 100 posts. I feel like I need to go back and look at what all I wrote about. I hope to hit the next 100 a lot faster than I previously did with a few more followers. I am working on an idea to maybe have a month of posting everyday about some craft. Like maybe a month of freezer paper or something. I don't know....any ideas?

The Best Years of Our Lives #37

Movie Monday

This movie was good. It appealed to my history-loving nature. It covers a topic we don't always talk about here in America. The crippling effect was has on its winners. These three men come home to completely different situations after WWII but all are struggling. It is so sad that this is true but it really even applies to today and our Service men and women.
My brother is a Marine and he leaves for Afghanistan this week. I fear for him because I want him to return but also fear for him because of what he will see and then have in his mind the rest of his life.
This movie is more about how things have changed since they were last here as well as how they have changed. Most obviously is Homer who went from high school star quarterback with a lovely girlfriend to an armless man who needs assistance doing almost anything. If his bedroom door got shut on accident he was stuck in there.
Overall it was an eye opening movie and a great story at that. I would recommend it and watch it again.

Family Friday- The Beard

Clayton had a scheduled month off of work from Dec 17th thru Jan 17th. During this time he felt he would grow a beard...not my favorite but whatever. Here is a photo montage of "the beard".

Fairly early stages still a little sparse.

Christmas morning and it seems to be coming in nicely.

Clayton and Fusigi ball the day after Christmas.

Lilly loving on the beard. Really it scratched her face and would cause red marks...

The night he was shaving it off. I ended up liking it ok but not liking kissing him with it. Sorry honey.

In our red shirts his beard looks so red.

He had to stop and take pictures at all the weird looking stages.

All the meanwhile Lilly is in the bathroom with us paying.......with a tampon. Poor child we don't buy her real toys.

All fresh and clean. Looking back to normal and about ten years younger again.
