Family Friday- The Beard

Clayton had a scheduled month off of work from Dec 17th thru Jan 17th. During this time he felt he would grow a beard...not my favorite but whatever. Here is a photo montage of "the beard".

Fairly early stages still a little sparse.

Christmas morning and it seems to be coming in nicely.

Clayton and Fusigi ball the day after Christmas.

Lilly loving on the beard. Really it scratched her face and would cause red marks...

The night he was shaving it off. I ended up liking it ok but not liking kissing him with it. Sorry honey.

In our red shirts his beard looks so red.

He had to stop and take pictures at all the weird looking stages.

All the meanwhile Lilly is in the bathroom with us paying.......with a tampon. Poor child we don't buy her real toys.

All fresh and clean. Looking back to normal and about ten years younger again.

Three Things Thursday

I got three things thursday from a friend and her blog. So I thought this would give me a something to occupy my time and also a place for the ramblings that don't fit elsewhere.

1. I started my new temporary job today. For the next six weeks I am bringing light to young adolescents and their journey to find enlightenment in the eyes of the elders of knowledge. In other words I am tutoring 7th and 8th graders in Reading for their upcoming TAKS tests. Despite the above pictured woman I really enjoyed it. The kids were good and paid attention. I had a max of 6 in each class and I loved what I was teaching today. It is really like teaching. I miss it so much.

Bible

2. I am trying to read the Bible in 90 days and failing miserably so far. I started 1/1/11 so I should finish at the end of March but I am bout 10 days behind which is A LOT when there is only 90 total. However the main goal is just to read God's Word and I celebrate the small things so.....
Genesis √
Exodus √
Leviticus √
Numbers √
Deuteronomy √
Joshua √
Judges √
Ruth √
1 Samuel √

3. I went to a MOPS meeting for the first time. I heard about MOPS from Clatyton's aunt when I was pregnant and just got around to going. It was a lot of fun. This month's speaker was a psychologist that spoke mostly about marriage and the roles of men and women (biblically). I hearted it and will join for good. Next month is wood burning....

When they think you're gonna zig, zag!

Even though the last two projects I have shown you are far from done I have another quilt I am working on for Lilly. I have high ambitions to give this to Lilly for her 2nd birthday along with a sheet, dust ruffle and two pillow cases. It is a zig zag quilt made with this tutorial.

This is the hardest quilt for me yet because I have a hard time picturing how to lay out the squares. Plus all my edges aren't lining up so I have a quilt-induced headache. Really I just need to learn how to cut my fabric more consistently and correctly.

I love, love the fabric. It is just from Hobby Lobby but the color palette makes me swoon. I wanna buy a ton more of it so just in case I have another daughter I can have enough to make her matching bedding for when they share a bedroom.

You will have to forgive my photos because here in Texas it snowed---- A LOT! and it is dim and dark around here and the only place I could lay out the pattern was on my king sized bed and it happens to be in my bedroom with PANELING! yikes! However we rent and cannot change anything are really are just appreciative to have a place to live so...

This is the jest of it.

If I was taller maybe you would be able to see it all :(

ewww....dark!

But alas I love the way it is shaping up and hope to have more done soon!

The Searchers #96

Movie Monday

This was one of those movies you know was good because of how much emotion it evoked out of you. I am a history buff but I tend to forget the violence between Indians and Western Settlers. This movie follows John Wayne, named Ethan, as he tracks his youngest niece Debbie who was abducted by Comanches when they killed the rest of her family.

I love the depth they pull out of the hard-ass John Wayne character because he hates Indians but chooses to save Debbie even though she is completely content being an Indian Maiden now. I am not a real fan of Westerns but I cried through this one. I would watch it again. reminded me a lot of a new movie called Missing.

Family Friday- Ft Worth Stock Show

Saturday January 22nd-

We went to the Fort Worth Stock Show with my best friend from high school who has a daughter 6 weeks older than Lilly. We tree to do something together whether with the whole family or us two every month.

Olivia was so interested in the animals and could say most of their names and the noise they make. Makes me excited for how much Lilly will grow in the upcoming months in her vocabulary and knowledge.

This is Lilly in her cow crown and hoodie because it was getting cold.
Olivia

Horrible picture but this horse was upset and neighed really loud and scared the girls to death.

The only picture of me, the camera man.

The girls were restless so we took them outside to run around and they found hay to climb on.

Love that face!

Needed a drink in the middle of all these animals

The group checking out baby ducks

Lilly couldn't get close enough!

Daddy was having fun

The girls are checking out some pigs. I love how they both have to squat down and get lower.

Olivia pointing and telling me

We walked out of the sheep barn and right there was a cow tied up and the girls got to touch it and they were having a ball

Lauren and Olivia. Dustin did not get to come he was sick :(

She is so adorable!

Fun, fun day. We need to do more things like this. It helps that we got in for free because of our museum passes!

Window Shopping Wednesday

This week I am focusing on books I am in current love with and may soon (probably not) have to have. This will probably come from checking them out at the library.

First up is Patriarchs by Beth Moore. I am reading the Bible in 90 days right now and have gotten through the parts with Abraham, Isaac adn Jacob. I founf it very interesting and would love to study it more in detail.

Second is Power of Praying Parent by Stormie Omartain. In our Life Group through church we are covering a parenting study. It gives us parents attributes that are important to growing ur children and I need to work on being prayful for my husband and Lilly.

This past November I read Witch and Wizard by James Patterson and was highly anticipating the sequel that came out in December, The Gift. I need to check it out from the library or wait till paperback. It is a very good YA novel series that goes back to the good old good vs. evil.

I was lucky enough to be invited to a book swap back in Decemeber through my long-term sub job and I was trying to fnd a book to take and while purusing the shelves I found this one. (I did not end up taking it) It is from the same author of Pillars of the Earth and actually is somewhat of a sequel. I just fell in love that day and have been looking for a reason to go grab it ever since. I also receved two good book from the swap and as soon as I finish them I will let you know how they went.
My favorite type of book is a retelling of a Fairy Tale. There is nothing I like more. The Once Upon a Time Series is just that. I have already read Violet Eyes another look at The Princess and the Pea. This is another look at a not so frequent but quite recently told story of Rapunzel. I have not seen Tangled yet but fairy tale + disney= my cup of tea.

Doodle Stitching is an embroidery book. I am all about embroidery now...because it is not like I don't have a billion other things to do!

Doodle Stitching the Motif Collection is from the same author. I think this would be better explained after I do some work.

Another Beth Moore book I am dying to have my hands on is Daniel. I think Daniel is my favorite book of the Bible and I want to study it more in depth. I think I will ask my Life Group to do this book next.

Finally another OUAT book. The Crimson Thread, a retelling of Rumplestiltskin. ~swoon~

That's all she wrote folks.
